Artist Statement
I am a Cortland native born in Binghamton, I am majoring in Electrical Engineering at Stony Brook University. Regarding my art, I specialize in abstract monochrome minimalism. I have been painting for ten years, but it wasn't until last year that I decided to start exhibiting my works. I have been influenced by the works of Robert Motherwell and Wassily Kandinsky. I’m also influenced by the contemporary music of John Cage, Helmut Lachenmann and Earle Brown; but my frequent visits to contemporary art museums and galleries inspire me the most.
What I try to express the most in my paintings is the authenticity of the balanced lines and shapes in a two dimensional space, placing the lines in a certain position and letting them carry their own personality. I focus my paintings not only in the way they look individually, but the way they are displayed in the space where they are exhibited, as a collection. The physical setting where the paintings are shown makes my works complete. Each exhibition for me is its own artwork.
I have shown my work in galleries and venues in Cortland, Binghamton and Norwich. I've had an article written about my works on PressConnects of Binghamton. One of my pieces "Void #3", won an honorable mention at the Groton Art Show 2016.
